Kimberly Akimbo is a performance that debuted Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, well known for his ablity for uniting humor and cruel reality.
The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly was born with a disorder that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and adolescence at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her nobly consumed by her family’s irresponsibility, which puts her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Highlighting her resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and managing to keep her high spirits.
