Hamilton at Keller Auditorium

Making its first appearance in in 2015 and performing for almost 10 years now, Hamilton shook Broadway by storm with its innovative approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s biographical book about Alexander Hamilton, we learn the journey of Alexander Hamilton’s humble beginnings and rise to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. This is a profound story that is both creative and political, Hamilton has been lauded as revolutionary in its storytelling that has influenced politics, culture, and education.

Written by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, famous for his achievements in film, Broadway and more, also creating the score and lyrics for his former Broadway play In the Heights, another Tony award-winning spectacle, and is also responsible for the music and lyrics in many high profile musical films such as Moana. This hit Broadway musical, featuring a mixed cast, is set to a score that blends new genres like hip hop, jazz, R&B and more, which has made Hamilton all the more revolutionary and exciting by bringing these genres to the stage. Showtunes such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have become loved by many as Broadways best memorable songs from the production since its Broadway release. Lin-Manuel Miranda has attributed his music inspiration for Hamilton to become top rap and hip-hop rappers of America, he wanted to marry the different genres together, something that was unheard of. The music of Hamilton is praised heavily by Oregon critics alike, compared to the other Broadway shows that have been staged, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and fun than many.

Hamilton has since gone on to achieve a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards plus 16 Tony nominations, Olivier Awards, Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special mention from the Kennedy Center Honors. To date, Hamilton has achieved global acclaim as it continues its worldwide tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is now available this spring in Keller Auditorium, the premier theater for the arts in Portland, where former shows have been received incredibly well. Tickets for the Saturday 15th March 2025 show are numerous as Hamilton will only be running for a short time in Keller Auditorium during March.
