After showings in the world’s most famous locations such as Broadway itself and London’s West End, Hamilton will now also be on tour for a limited season this March in Keller Auditorium of Portland, an especially renowned venue acclaimed for its best facilities fit to present world-class plays and shows.
The show honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceived and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, basing it off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It tells the historical times of Alexander Hamilton in a ‘hipper’ format, remaining close to the events behind his life but with and musical scoring that makes this show very entertaining. Hamilton actually began off Broadway in mid 2015 and was rapidly met with stunning reviews from its premier. Among a variety of press articles and reviewers, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the Musical’s premiere with its stunning cast which included the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the title role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, impressed audiences in its debut with a spectacular opening night. Hamilton went on over the next decade to win eleven Tony Awards from 16 nominations, in addition to Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Ever since its debut, Hamilton has since traveled to perform in several venues around the globe, where it has been getting continuously great reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The production “the hottest ticket in town”, as it lends itself to a wider range in audience because of being accessible to both the older generations who came for the history behind the production, and the newer generations that came for the fresh and innovative approach behind Hamilton. Across in the U.K.'s London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over the Musical being overblown, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. More so, recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes the show as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they expanded.
Newspaper critics and audiences alike agree that the show is a must-watch this spring as it continues its tour all over the Nation.
