Life of Pi at Keller Auditorium

Many people are familiar with the story of Life of Pi because of the film. Director Ang Lee and his team did an incredible job crafting the movie with the source material, which comes from a novel by Yann Martel. Martel actually helped with the playwright for this show along with expert play writer Lolita Chakrabarti. This is important because it means this version grasps the soul of the story, even in this new format. There are two elements that are in play throughout the show. It's mainly about Pi's journey for actual survival, while trying not to lose his mind in the process. This allows the story to shift from his reality to his imagination. The storyline is so complex, and yet it doesn't scare people away because until you're completely emerged in the plot, you realize how complicated it is.

The play hasn't been around for too long; the first-ever official performance was in 2019. Since then, it has sold out theaters all over the UK, while also having a long stay in London's West End before heading to Broadway. It's picked up accolades from fans and recognized theater award shows along the way. Life of Pi is headed to the Keller Auditorium in Portland, Oregon in an effort to get more people to experience the story. Since it's not a production that's been on display for too long, there's a good chance that you've never seen it live. If you come out on this Friday 11th April 2025, you're going to be in for a treat. It's not only a show that forces you to reflect on what you'll witness on stage. The puppet design can't compare to anything that Broadway had seen before. Another major part of the show is the lighting and the stage design; everything works together to showcase a memorable story.

Since both the actors and the scenery are essential to the way the story is told, finding the right spot to take it all in is key to the whole experience. Being too close to the actors on this Friday night may be counterproductive. Looking into elevated seats or spots a bit further back could be a better option.
