The Broadway show Six — The Musical offers exciting music and a new way of looking on the ladies of Henry VIII. The spectators experiences the strength of women with an engaging story and modern pop music.
Founded on the troubled marriages of King Henry VIII, Six tells the story of the King's six brides. The viewers watch as each of the ladies reclaims their own identity.
The play opens as each of the ladies introduces themselves through a song. Only the woman who got hurt the most can become the band's lead singer. Despite fighting among themselves, the wives finally recognize they can no longer let this king define them. By the end they sing together as a allied unit.
The show initially debuted in 2017, but Keller Auditorium now features the latest production. Critics rave about the show's innovation and dynamic advocacy. Fans love the incredible music, the message, and the excitement that the play inspires.

"Six" is the story of the wives of King Henry VIII, who was an infamous king of England in the early 1500s. During his four decades of rule, he married 6 times. His efforts to leave his first marriage saw the separation of the Church of England. Many people probably are familiar with the story of Henry VIII. However, you may not know the story of his six wives. That’s where "Six" enters the picture.
The musical delves into the story of these six queens as they tell their individual experiences with Henry VIII. The queens compete for who had the roughest experience in being married to the king. The queens discuss divorce, rejections, adultery, and even beheadings in a way that amuses you while also touching your heart. There is a relatable twist on the story by incorporating a dating app in a hilarious way.
Eventually, they realize that arguing over who had the most awful time with Henry VIII is not helpful. They come to realize that Henry VIII took their individuality. They’re not just the six wives of a terrible king - they have their individual strengths that deserve celebrating. The ex-wives eventually work together to write new endings to their lives. They achieve their “happily ever afters” that Henry VIII denied them by imagining what their lives would’ve been like without marrying Henry VIII.
